Last week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Diane Sanfilippo of Balanced Bites and Liz Wolfe of Cave Girl Eats for their Balanced Bites Podcast. We covered all the really important stuff: attack goats, writers’ tricks, my J.Lo. problem, and kitchen secrets. It was a really fun time, and I’m so grateful to both those lovely ladies for having me on their show.

Austin was delightfully chilly today — my perfect weather, really: a little blustery and nippy enough that a stroll outdoors is refreshing and relaxing inside is cozy. We spent the afternoon at Serve Gourmet, eating food from Well Fed and Well Fed 2 — that I didn’t have to make! — and meeting lovely paleo people. Take a look.
Numero uno awesome thing about today: this sign outside the store....

Well, this is super fun!
We just found out that Well Fed 2: More Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat was named the Best Designed Book in the Shelf Unbound Writing Competition for Best Indie Books. The competition was sponsored by Shelf Unbound, a digital magazine that reviews independently published books, and Half Price Books (a.k.a., my favorite place to kill an afternoon).

As you know, instead of a dog that loves us unconditionally and wants nothing more than to snuggle up with us and please us at every turn, we have a cat.
A CEO cat. A cat who is selfish with her love. A cat that, more often than not, looks at me with disdain. Like this:
To fill the hole in my soul left by the self-centered feline that allows us to live in her house, I devour the dog-related posts on...

I’m not exaggerating when I say that Dave, Smudge, and I are giddy about the official release of Well Fed 2: More Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat. I find myself in the totally blessed position of having lots of my favorite writers and bloggers ready to review our new book.
As the reviews roll in, I’m going to share them with you, along with a little somethin’-somethin’...

Jimmy Moore — author of Cholesterol Clarity and the web site Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb — is a podcast veteran, and it shows. He’s very generous, includes a wide variety of guests on his show, and asks great questions. I was super excited to be invited to chat with Jimmy on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.
We talked about the making of Well Fed 2, some of Jimmy’s favorite...

This weekend is the Texas Book Festival — and Dave and I will be there!
We’ve been invited to be part of H-E-B’s Children’s Center where Dave will be reading Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches, then we’ll do a signing of the just-released Well Fed 2. In addition to all things bookie, there are rumors that our reading tent will be visited by the Lorax and the Cat in the Hat. You...

We tried our absolute best, but even with our extreme vigilance, a typo or two may have sneaked past us during the editing process. I’ll list corrections to recipes on this post as we find them, and future editions of the book will be updated. If you find typos, please email them to email@example.com. Thanks!

Fasten your seatbelts, because I’m about to tell you a story that will eventually weave together Thanksgiving; Elvis; a restaurant in Venice, California; Sunbutter; and indoor grilling.
Ready? Let’s begin.
Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday since I was old enough to start naming things as favorites. According to family lore, I once protested that we couldn’t start Thanksgiving...
