Friday Flashback: Taking the Monster for a Run

I’ve been blogging here since 2008, and – if I do say so myself – there’s some good stuff in my archive that you might have missed. On Fridays, I’m going to take you on a Friday Flashback and point you to some good stuff from the checkered past of The Clothes Make The Girl.

Friday Flashback: Taking the Monster for a Run
Originally posted on April 25, 2009, this entry is all about the Monster that used to accompany me on my runs. He was cute, but mean. He looked something like this:

This was back in my Weight Watchers days, so you’ll see some references to that… but what I like about this post, even at a distance of two years, are the guiding principles I came up with on my run around the lake that morning. My favorite? “I need to believe.”

Here’s a snippet:

The difference between my ability to jump on the 20-inch box and not jump on the 20-inch box was my belief that I could do it. And that applies to anything that’s important enough to try. Call it what you want: Faith. Determination. Focus. Pigheadedness. Grit. Whatever. I’ve gotta commit in my heart and believe in my mind… and then everything falls into place.

Hurray for Friday Flashbacks. I do browse your archives, but surely have missed some posts, and will be very interested to see the ones that you particularly like. This "monster" post, for example, is one that I haven't read, but wow! does it speak my name! Thanks, thanks, thanks (again).
